In this article we will discuss, how to use ExecuteNonQuery () method in ASP.Net c#. When we want to perform insert, update or delete by using ExecuteNonQuery().
Example:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (!IsPostBack)
{
//Create the connection object
SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ShoppingZone"].ConnectionString) ;
try
{
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("insert into employee values ('zubair', 'male','melapalayam')",connection);
connection.Open();
//Since we areperforming an insert operation, use ExecuteNonQuery()
//method of thecommand object. ExecuteNonQuery() method returns an
//integer, whichspecifies the number of rows inserted
int rowsAffected =cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
Response.Write("InsertedRows = " +rowsAffected.ToString() + "<br/>");
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
// HandleExceptions, if any
Response.Write(ex.ToString());
}
finally
{
// The finallyblock is guarenteed to execute even if there is an exception.
// This ensures connections are always properlyclosed.
connection.Close();
}
}
}
